Wednesday 15th April 2009 saw the annual Staffs 8 Way competition held at Lea Hall Sports and Social Club and hosted by St. Leonard's Camera Club.
This competition is held between 8 clubs within the Staffordshire area however one of the clubs dropped out and left just the 7 clubs to battle it out.
The clubs were Cannock PS, Stafford PS, Lichfield CC, Burton PS, St Leonards, Walsall Wood CC and Tamworth.
Tonight's judge came from the Nottingham area and had visited 3 of the clubs competing tonight, but a stranger to Tamworth. Nigel Ward LRPS was very much old-school and didn't like the image to be over manipulated but must tell a story and be well crafted. The emphasis was on the images title and that had to be descriptive and on a couple of occasions images were marked down because the title was confusing or didn't portray it adequately.
As with the caliber of clubs the image quality was of a high standard and showed a broad range of styles, skills and subject matter. The judge remarked on the quality of the monochrome images as being some of the best images in the competition. After the first half there was nothing in the marking and all clubs were fairly level, however
Tamworth's entry and the overall results are below:
